As we begin the 2010 season, Santa Barbara Dons Baseball will once again rely on the two trademarks of their success ... Continuity and Character.
While other programs struggle to maintain leadership, Dons Baseball has established a decades long coaching dynasty.
Beginning his 37th season at the helm, Coach Fred Warrecker is joined by Coach Mike Cooney and Coach George Rempe with a combined 50 year contribution and Coach Donny Warrecker (who has been on the field since he learned to walk.)
In the younger divisions, the staff is complemented by, Coach Bill Oliphant, in his 35th year.
This lifelong commitment is rare today and allows the SBHS program to develop individual players dimensionally while preparing student athletes for success after high school. Dons Baseball has delivered graduates to UCSB and Princeton, Stanford and USC to name a few as well as numerous pro ball players.
The second pillar of excellence for SBHS Baseball is character. Emphasizing doing the right things the right way, the Dons philosophy gives players a chance to be heroes every single day.
Winning 8 of the last 10 Channel League Championships, the results of these principles speak for themselves. By encouraging hard work, hustle and scholastic achievement Dons baseball consistently sets a standard for competition and a code for life after baseball.
