Dons Upset Arcadia, Advance in CIF Playoffs

The Dons scored two runs in the 3rd inning and upset Arcadia (21-4) in the first round of the Southern Section Division II CIF playoffs.. In the third inning, Will Allison got on base on an error, Joey Gonzales hit a double and Jack Crummer hit a curve ball up the middle to score two runs. Gavin Feuer who was pitching in his fourth game in eight days, got the win and gave up only 4 hits in 5 innings. Collin Dewell pitched the 6th and 7th innings and gave up only one hit to save the game. With the CIF playoff win, the Dons advance to the next round of the CIF playoffs and play San Luis Obispo next Tuesday at Eddie Matthews Field.

Dons Advance, Knockoff Loyola in CIF Wildcard Round

The Dons put up three runs in the first inning and stayed strong throughout the game and beat a Loyola team with two Division I college prospects 6-4. Danny Zandona was strong and pitched 4 1/3 innings and struck out six batters. Gavin Feuer came in for relief and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings. The Dons had 11 hits. Joey Gonzales, Spencer Fraker and Jack Crummer each had 2 hits. Senior Will Allison laid down a key two strike bunt to help the Dons score 2 runs in the 6th. With the CIF playoff win, the Dons advance to the next round of the CIF playoffs and play Arcadia on Thursday.

Dons Beat San Marcos 3-2 to Break 3rd Place Tie and Advance to CIF Playoffs

Gavin Feuer and Danny Zandona pitched 7 strong innings and beat San Marcos 3-2. Gavin Feuer pitched 4 shutout innings and gave up only three hits. Danny Zandona pitched the last three innings to close the game. Alex Spatz went 2-for-3 and Trey Barret and Spencer Fraker each had timely hits that drove in runs. With the playoff win, the Dons advance to the CIF playoffs which start next week.

Dons Lose Last Regular Season Game to DP 11-5

Dons give up 10 runs in the 3rd and the 4th and lost to DP 11-5. Collin Dewell, Colin Eaton and Rober Crawford all pitched and gave up 11 hits. The Dons had 8 hits with Collin Dewell going 3-for-3 with a walk and Trey Barrett going 2-for-3 with a walk.

Dons Beat San Marcos 5-3

Gavin Feuer came back from an injury and pitched 6 strong innings and the Dons beat San Marcos 5-3. Gavin struck out six batters, walked only one batter and allowed only three hits in six innings of work. Danny Zandona pitched the 7th inning to close the game. Collin Dewell went 2-for-2 with a walk, and both Jack Crummer and Joey Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with a walk. Alex Spatz had a good day with 2 RBIs.

Dons Bats Go Silent and Lose to DP 9-0

DP's Tyler McGaughey pitched a 3 hitter and DP beat the Dons 9-0. Jack Crummer, Robert Crawford and Pepe Gil were the only Dons that go a hit. Danny Zandona started and was relieved by Robert Crawford in the 4th.

Dons Beat San Marcos 9-4

On a windy day with the newly started Jesusita Fire clearly visible, the SBHS Dons beat the San Marcos Royals 9-4. Danny Zandona had another strong outing and pitched a complete game. The game was scoreless through 5 innings, but the Dons scored 9 runs in the 6th inning to put it away. The Dons had 10 straight batter reach safely in that inning. Collin Dewell and Spencer Fraker had back to back 2 RBI hits.

Dons Pitchers Struggle and Lose to Bulldogs 10-5

The SBHS Dons lost to the Buena Bullgos 10-5. The Dons pitching staff gave up both hits, walks and runs in every inning except for the first. Joey Gonzales went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Jack Crummer hit a 3 run homer in the 7th.

Dons Beat Buena Bulldogs 5-1 at Home

The SBHS Dons beat the Buena Bulldogs 5-1. Danny Zandona pitched a complete game, struck out 7 and did not walk anyone. Pepe Gill had 2 hits. Joey Gonzales turned two double plays, went 2-for-4 and hit a home run.

Dons Drop Close Game to LA Poly

The SBHS Dons lost to LA Poly 5-4. Collin Eaton started for the Dons. He pitched 5 innings, struck out 3, walked none and gave up only 2 earned runs. The score was 4-4 when he left the game. Spencer Fraker went 2-for-2 with a double.

Dons Drop 2 Games Against Ventura

Game 1 @Ventura 4/21 - The SBHS Dons lost in the 8th inning to Ventura 5-4. Danny Zandona pitched 7 innings, struck out 7 and gave up only 2 earned runs. Jack Crummer had 2 hits while Spencer Fraker led the Dons with 3 hits.

Game 2 @SBHS 4/24 - The SBHS Dons lost to Ventura 6-3. Numerous base running mistakes and sloppy fielding contributed to the loss. Collin Dewell started and went 4 innings and struck out 6 batters. In the first inning the Dons scored quickly and then loaded the bases with only one out, but let Ventura off the hook when the next batter struck out looking and a base running play failed.

Dons Win 2 and Lose 2 In Righetti Tournament

Game 1 - The SBHS Dons beat Santa Maria 4-2. The Dons had 19 hits. Collin Eaton pitched a complete game for his 1st start ever. Jack Crummer, Joey Gonzalez and Danny Zandona all had 3 hits. Collin Dewell hit a grand slam which helped to mercy Santa Maria.

Game 2 - The SBHS Dons lost to Deer Valley 11-4. Jack Crummer hit a home run in the 3rd inning.

Game 3 - The SBHS Dons lost to the Royals 11-0. Jack Crummer broke up a no-hitter in the 4th inning with a base hit.

Game 4 - The SBHS Dons came from behind to beat Righetti 10-9. Lucas Benenati got his first varsity start as a pitcher. Jack Crummer, Joey Gonzalez and Danny Zandona all had 2 hits. The Dons scored 3 runs in the 7th to tie the game. Alex Spatz sacrificed in the tying run in the 8th, and Collin Dewell stole 3rd base and went home on a wild throw to win the game.

Dons Drop Hotly Contested Game to DP

The SBHS Dons lost to DP 4-2. The Dons had 4 hits. In the 6th the Dons were putting a rally together and DP made a pitching change and went with their top starter to close the game. Collin Dewell pitched 4 1/3 innings after pitching two innings the day before.

Dons Beat San Marcos in the 7th

The SBHS Dons continued to win and beat San Marcos 3-2. The Dons had 7 hits. Will Martin tied the game at 2-2 on a passed ball after getting to third base on an infield grounder. With bases loaded and one out in the 7th Trey Barrett hit a grounder to score Joey Gonzalez for a walk off win. Danny Zandona pitched 5 solid innings. Collin Dewell got the win and pitched in the 6th and 7th.

Dons Beat Good Lompoc Team to Improve Record to 5-4

The SBHS Dons won back to back games and beat Lompoc 9-3. The Dons had 11 hits and were led by Joey Gonzales who went 3-for-4 and Jack Crummer who went 2-for-3, and Trey Barrett who went 2-for-4. Danny Zandona picked up the win and improved his record to 5-0 win while striking out 10 batters. Collin Dewell pitched the last 3 innings and struck out 4 to secure the win.

The SBHS Dons Baseball team beat Sylmar 9-6 to even their record at 4-4. Nick Below, Jack Crummer, Collin Dewell, Spencer Fraker, all had multiple hits for the Dons. Danny Zandona pictched for 4 innings and picked up his 4th win..

Dons Win League Opener Against Ventura Cougars

The SBHS Dons Baseball team hung in there to win their league opener against Ventura 3-2. Jack Crummer was patient at the plate and picked up 2 RBIs when his double scored Will Allison and Collin Dewell in the first inning. Trey Barret then got the ball in play with 2 strikes to score Crummer to get the 3rd and last run of the game for the Dons. Danny Zandona picthed six strong innings and Collin Dewell got the save.

Dons Lose Late in Chatsworth Tournament Opener

The SBHS Dons Baseball team lost the opening game of the Chatsworth Tournament against Calabasas 5-4. Jack Crummer stayed hot and had 2 doubles, Collin Dewell went 3-for-4 and Joey Gonzales went 2-for-4

Dons Complete Central Coast Classic

The SBHS Dons Baseball team split games again in the Central Coast Classic and finished the tournament with a 2 - 2 record. On Tuesday, March 17th the Dons played San Luis Obsipo and lost in the final inning 7-6. On Thursday, March 19th, Danny Zandona pitched another good game and the Dons rebounded to beat Pioneer Valley 8-3.

Dons Split Games in Opening Week

The SBHS Dons Baseball team lost the opening game of the season against Santa Ynez 2-6, but bounced back to win their home opener against Righetti 5-3.

Next up for the Dons: at San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, March 17th and a home game against Pioneer Valley on Thursday, March 19.
